Statement on Recent Health and Safety Ruling Involving Solar Installation

Solar Ireland is deeply saddened by the tragic fatality that occurred during a solar installation in Co. Louth, in 2023. Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and colleagues of the individual who lost their life.

While the company involved is not a member of Solar Ireland, this case is a sobering reminder of the critical importance of rigorous health and safety practices — particularly for work at height.

As the representative body for Ireland’s solar sector, Solar Ireland is committed to advocating for the highest standards of health and safety across the industry. We work closely with our members to help shape and raise these standards, through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of best practice.

The solar industry must take every measure to protect its workers and the communities it serves. Incidents like this cannot and must not be repeated.
